War

Beauty has no power

when you deploy forgetfulness.

You watch me from your tower

standing there, defenceless.

I stand before you, tremulous.

No advantage in this conflict.

All my weapons lie there, useless.

I’m weak from the wounds you inflict.

The damage is done.

How could I forget

the bodily harm

my soul just regrets.

I give in to you.

I admit defeat.

I surrender to you.

You know I’m at your feet.

I had nothing to loose,

I had no strategy.

I know it’s no excuse

this was such a tragedy.

Inexperienced at war,

an untrained soldier.

You’d be merciful, you swore,

but you were so much bolder.
